
The atmosphere at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos, on October 24, 2025, was charged with excitement, celebration, and inspiration as Levi EduTech hosted the Grand Finale of the Cybersmart Educators Initiative (CEI) 1.0 — a groundbreaking program designed to empower Nigerian teachers with digital literacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) integration skills.
From a pool of over 270 applicants, 140 educators across public and private schools successfully completed the intensive five-week training, with top achievers honored for their exceptional performance, innovation, and dedication to creating safer digital learning environments.
Representing Valencia Junior Academy, Ibadan, Mrs. Esther Ekanem emerged as the Best Cybersmart Teacher of the Year 2025, taking home the ₦1,000,000 grand prize.
Esther demonstrated outstanding excellence across modules including Password Security, Cyber Threat Contexts, and Digital Policy Drafting. Her school also won the Best Cybersmart School Award, affirming Valencia Junior Academy’s leadership in digital safety and innovation.
“This initiative changed how I see technology in education,” Esther said. “I now teach not just for knowledge, but for safety and responsibility in the digital space.”
The second position went to Mr. Oluwaseun Oluwasanya of Deeper Life High School, Ogun State, who received a ₦500,000 cash award.
As the National Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Supervisor for Deeper Life High Schools, Oluwasanya showcased exceptional commitment to bridging AI and cybersecurity in modern classrooms.
“The future belongs to educators who understand both innovation and integrity. Cybersmart made that future clearer,” he said.
Mr. David Ipaye of Mabest Academy, Akure, clinched the third position, receiving a ₦300,000 prize. His hands-on approach to cybersecurity practicals and passion for guiding young learners in digital safety earned him high commendation from facilitators and judges.
According to Pastor Johnson Olaseinde Samuel, Media, Marketing, and Logistics Manager of Levi EduTech, the organization invested over ₦45 million in training and awards for the participants.
“This is more than a training — it’s an investment in the soul of education. We are building a network of educators who will raise a cyber-aware generation,” he said.
The event, chaired by Dr. Olakunle Dabiri, SSA to the Lagos State Governor, also featured distinguished guests including Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education; Prof. Boniface Kayode Alese, FUTA; and international guest Dr. Shenbaga Raj, GM & VP, M-Tutor, India.
The day’s highlight included the Inter-School Debate Competition, where Amazing Talents College, Lagos, emerged champion, with Yeshua High School, Ogun State, and Deeper Life High School teams as runners-up.
The ceremony also unveiled the Cybersmart Club Initiative, a nationwide movement designed to nurture responsible, ethical, and digitally smart students across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
